Horse Racing
The Breeders Cup World Championships is the most important two-day thoroughbred racing event in the world. Held on the Friday and Saturday of the first full weekend of November, the meeting features 14 Grade I championship races spanning every major division of thoroughbred racing — turf, dirt, sprint, mile, classic distance and juvenile.
The Breeders Cup was established in 1984 as a season-ending championship event to determine the best thoroughbreds in each division. It now attracts horses from across North America, Europe, Japan, Australia and beyond — making it the genuinely international championship that its name implies.
The Breeders Cup is split across two days:
Breeders Cup Friday features six championship races including the Breeders Cup Juvenile, Juvenile Fillies and Dirt Mile. Friday is less crowded, less expensive and offers a more relaxed atmosphere. For genuine racing enthusiasts who want the full championship experience without the Saturday crowd, Friday is often the preferred choice.
Breeders Cup Saturday features eight championship races including the marquee Breeders Cup Classic (the richest and most prestigious race on the card) and the Breeders Cup Turf, Mile and Filly & Mare Turf. Saturday is the main event — larger crowds, higher prices and the most intense racing atmosphere of the two days.
Full weekend packages are available and offer the best overall value — the complementary scheduling of Friday and Saturday creates a genuinely comprehensive championship experience.
Breeders Cup access is sold in tiers:
General Admission — access to the infield and public areas of the host track. Less expensive but also less structured — guests find their own viewing positions and manage their own food and drinks. From $80–$150 per person depending on day.
Preferred/Reserved Seating — allocated grandstand seats with better viewing positions than general admission. From $150–$300 per person.
Clubhouse Premium Access — the top tier. Dedicated lounge with full dining, open bar and reserved Clubhouse seats. From $400–$900 per person per day.
Private Suites — exclusive corporate spaces with dedicated catering, reserved track-view positions and the most private experience available at the Breeders Cup.
