Paris Fashion Week
Paris Fashion Week is the most prestigious and most exclusive fashion event in the world. It is also an event with no conventional ticket system for the majority of its most significant shows. Understanding this — and understanding the alternatives — is the essential first step for any non-industry guest who wants to attend.
The major Paris runway shows — Chanel, Dior, Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga — are invitation-only events. There is no box office. There is no public sale. Access is controlled entirely by each brand's communications team, who manage a finite list of industry credentials, brand VIP invitations and press passes. For non-industry guests, working through conventional channels will not produce a result.
Official Paris Fashion Week credentials are issued through the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode and individual brand communications teams. The credential categories are:
Press credentials — for accredited fashion journalists, photographers and digital media creators from recognised fashion publications. Verification of credentials is strict — small blogs or new platforms generally do not qualify.
Buyer credentials — for professional retail buyers from stores and e-commerce platforms that carry the brands. Verifiable professional credentials are required.
Brand VIP invitations — issued directly by each house to celebrities, significant clients and cultural figures. These are the most coveted invitations and the most personal — they reflect a direct relationship between the guest and the brand.
For non-industry guests, none of these channels are directly accessible. The realistic options lie elsewhere.
For guests without industry credentials, Paris Fashion Week access options include:
1. Premium VIP hospitality channels — companies like VIP Access work with channels that can secure access to certain Paris Fashion Week events, presentations and VIP activities for non-industry clients. This is the most reliable route to a genuine fashion week experience without industry credentials.
2. Brand VIP client programmes — if you are a significant private client of a specific fashion house, the brand's VIP services (typically accessed through their flagship store) is the appropriate channel for show invitation requests.
3. Official public events — the official Paris Fashion Week calendar includes some public-facing events and exhibitions. Check the Fédération's website for the official public programme.
4. Fashion week associated events — the parties, brand events, exhibition openings and cultural happenings that surround the official schedule are accessible through the right channels and often provide a more sociable and enjoyable experience than the shows themselves.
