Paris Fashion Week
Paris and Milan are the two dominant poles of European fashion — and the two most prestigious fashion week destinations in the world. Both are extraordinary cities with extraordinary fashion legacies, concentrations of the world's greatest fashion houses and fashion week experiences of the highest order.
But they are genuinely different — in the character of their fashion, the nature of their fashion weeks, the texture of the cities themselves and the overall experience of attending each. Choosing between them, or planning a combined Paris-Milan trip, benefits from understanding those differences clearly.
Scale: Paris Fashion Week is significantly larger than Milan — approximately 90–100+ shows versus 60–70 in Milan. The Paris calendar is broader, more international and spans a wider range of fashion aesthetics and price points.
Prestige: Paris is, by consensus, the more prestigious of the two fashion weeks — it closes the fashion month and is where the industry makes its final seasonal judgements. The Paris credential is the most valued in the fashion world.
Access difficulty: Paris show access is marginally more difficult than Milan for top-tier shows. The credential system is the most closely managed of any fashion week city.
Social scene: Paris Fashion Week's social scene is arguably the most intense in the fashion world — the combination of the RTW shows, Haute Couture (for those attending in January/July) and the extraordinary Paris social calendar creates an unmatched density of significant fashion events.
City experience: Paris and Milan are both extraordinary cities to spend a week in, but they offer very different pleasures. Paris offers museums, gardens, brasseries, fashion's intellectual heritage and the unique atmosphere of the world's most culturally complete city. Milan offers northern Italian luxury, design culture, exceptional food and a different kind of fashion energy.
For the most ambitious fashion week experiences, attending both Milan and Paris within the same fashion month is not only possible but extremely rewarding — and an increasing number of fashion enthusiasts and VIP guests do exactly this.
Fashion month (September/October edition) moves: New York (early September) → London (mid-September) → Milan (late September) → Paris (late September–early October). The natural sequencing allows Milan and Paris to be combined in a single 10–14 day fashion month trip.
A combined Milan + Paris fashion month programme:
— Milan: 4–5 nights (Sunday arrival to Thursday evening flight to Paris)
— Paris: 5–6 nights (Thursday arrival to Tuesday/Wednesday departure)
This represents the full European fashion week experience at its most comprehensive. Our team designs combined Milan + Paris fashion week programmes for clients who want the complete European fashion month.
